CSRD vs. ISSB vs. GRI — which workflow do you need?

Frequently asked questions

Is CSRD reporting mandatory for my company?

CSRD applies in waves: large EU public-interest entities reported in 2025 (FY 2024); other large EU companies in 2026; listed SMEs in 2027; certain non-EU groups with EU subsidiaries from 2029. Even when you're not directly in scope, large customers and lenders frequently require CSRD-aligned data from suppliers.

What's the difference between limited and reasonable assurance?

Limited assurance (current CSRD requirement) is the lower bar — the auditor reports nothing has come to their attention suggesting material misstatement. Reasonable assurance (mandated later under CSRD) is the higher bar, equivalent to financial-statement assurance: the auditor expresses a positive opinion that the disclosures are fairly stated. Reasonable assurance demands much stronger process documentation, including detailed process maps.

How do I document Scope 3 emissions in a process map?

Scope 3 has 15 categories — each gets its own data-flow lane.
